Zelensky about relations with Poland: I am not a flag bearer. I defend the interests of my country during the war

Zelensky says 'No One knows' when war in Ukraine will end

- We lost hundreds of millions of dollars. We lost part of the harvest. This is how our political relations began to deteriorate, he explained. He expressed hope that the new Polish government would solve the problem of blockades at the border. This blockade is artificial, we are ready to look for solutions so that the Polish side does not suffer losses

- he announced.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky referred to relations with Poland during a press conference organized on Tuesday in Kyiv. He estimated that our country lost due to blocking the border with Ukraine.

- However, I believe that the problem of blockades can be solved

- he said.

- I would like to thank Poland and President Andrzej Duda, and above all, the Polish society for being with us from the very beginning of the war. You are our neighbors, you welcomed our people. I did everything I could to repay him, maybe even too little, but we are extremely grateful

he said.

"Ukrainians defend Poland with their lives"

He noted that "Ukrainians are defending Poland with their lives". - You can't say it's just you. I believe we are brothers. I think you helped us as much as you could, that's a fact. And we also stood up to defend you and your independence, and we still stand, Zelensky said.

He emphasized that he was in "very good relations" with the Polish government until the blockade of the Ukrainian borders began.

- Understand: there is no business during war. There was a border blockade and it was about survival. At that time we did not have a corridor, a free, independent corridor through the Black Sea through which grain could be exported. We had problems in Slovakia, we could have had problems with Romania, we had problems with Hungary and with our closest friends - Poland.

What are we left with if we don't have the sea? When they said "compromise", I replied: yes, but what is the compromise? A compromise so we don't all survive? They didn't take the grain away? We said: okay, we won't sell grain to Poland, but let us export it, Zelensky said.

"I am not a flag bearer. I defend the interests of my country during the war."

- Do you know what the attitude of Ukrainians towards Poles is? They approach with great love and sympathy. This is what happened in Ukraine: when everyone saw that we had a conflict at the level of heads of state, Ukrainians started to defend you. Not me, even though I was defending their interests. That's life

he said.

Zelensky admitted that "from April to September it was very difficult". - We lost hundreds of millions of dollars. We lost part of the harvest. We lost every day. And every day our farmers told me: our fields are mined and I have to take something away. And that's how it started, our political relations began to deteriorate, explained the Ukrainian leader.

He repeated that he was very grateful to the Polish nation. - But understand me, I'm not a banner person. I defend the interests of my country during the war, he explained.

Zelensky expressed the opinion that the new Polish government would solve the problem of blockades at the border. - This blockade is artificial, we are ready to look for solutions so that the Polish side does not suffer losses - emphasized the President of Ukraine. In response to the blockades, "we have created corridors through Moldova and the Black Sea," he added.
