Zelensky reacted sharply to Trump's words that "the war can be ended in 24 hours"

President Zelensky noted that the war in Ukraine has been going on since 2014, but under Trump, Ukraine and the Russian Federation did not sit down to the negotiating table.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to former US President Donald Trump's words that the war could be ended within 24 hours at the negotiating table.

The head of state spoke about this in an interview with WJS.

“The war can be ended in 24 hours”

“I didn't understand why Donald Trump said that in 24 hours he would put Putin and Zelensky at the negotiating table and end the war. He could have done it while he was there. But that didn't happen. The case was not so severe – therefore there was no full-scale invasion. But our territories were occupied” Zelensky said.

The president added that of course he would like to end the war as soon as possible, but it is not related to the US administration – will it be the same or will it change after the US presidential election in 2024.

“President Biden is the president in a full-scale war, and he has helped us more than President Trump. But at the same time, you have to understand that there was no full-scale war then, and I don't know how Trump would act” the head of state noted.

Recall that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the readiness of the Armed Forces to launch a counter-offensive. The head of state pointed out that, unfortunately, the Ukrainian army did not receive all the weapons and equipment it would like to have for the counter-offensive, but there is no time to wait because it is too expensive for Ukrainian families.
