Zelensky had a long meeting: they discussed air defense supplies and preparations for winter

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky

On Friday, October 6, President Volodymyr Zelensky convened a lengthy meeting of the Commander-in-Chief's Staff. During his evening address, the head of state revealed that the discussions primarily revolved around the state of affairs in key frontlines, the replenishment of ammunition and anti-aircraft equipment, as well as the receipt of reports from military commanders.

During his evening, Ukraine's high command also focused on winter preparations, safeguarding vital production facilities, ensuring the availability of electricity and heat, and initiating efforts to repair the damage inflicted by Russian attacks and hostilities.

President Zelensky expressed his concerns about Russia's consistent approach, emphasizing that they continue to repeat past mistakes and malevolent actions. He noted the illogical nature of their actions, where they seem to believe that their failure to conquer Ukraine stems from not committing enough wrongdoing. He cautioned that this coming winter, Russian-affiliated terrorists might attempt to sabotage Ukraine's electricity system once again, driven by their refusal to accept Ukraine's resilience. He predicted more attacks and efforts to breach Ukrainian defenses.

During the meeting, members received updates from military personnel and government officials responsible for safeguarding Ukraine's energy industry. Zelensky also stressed the importance of local governments fulfilling their responsibilities in the preparatory work.

British intelligence has previously warned that Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure are likely to persist in the upcoming winter. Nevertheless, Ukraine demonstrated last winter that it possesses skilled workers and the necessary experience to maintain its energy grid even under wartime conditions.
