Military meeting with the participation of Valery Zaluzhny

Eleven days ago, some of the highest-ranking NATO commanders went to a secret location on the Polish-Ukrainian border. There was what was described as a "war council" with the commander of the Ukrainian armed forces, General Valery Zaluzhny, reports The Guardian.

The British daily notes that “this was no ordinary discussion”. Zaluzhny took the entire command team with him on his almost 500 km trip from Kyiv.

“Secret meeting” on the Polish border. It lasted five hours

The purpose of the five-hour meeting was to "help reset Ukraine's military strategy." As the Guardian writes, "The main item on the agenda was to take action on the slow progress of the Ukrainian counter-offensive with a battle plan for the upcoming grueling winter and to adopt a long-term strategy as the war inevitably enters 2024".

The meeting was attended by Commander-in-Chief of NATO Allied Forces in Europe (SACEUR) General Christopher Cavoli and Commander of the British Armed Forces Admiral Tony Radakin.

The journal notes that it was not the first such conversation either. The border summit took place after Radakin traveled to Kyiv, where he held a 45-minute meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Military meetings on the Polish border. What has been established?

"British sources are reluctant to talk about the outcome of the meeting at the border. However, signals from the West are that strategy has changed as a result of the discussions," writes the British daily.

"I think you can see that they are focusing on the Zaporozhye front", said one of the sources, in the context of Ukrainian attacks targeting the Russian-occupied town of Tokmak, which, the Guardian notes, is the first step towards reaching the Sea of Azov and crossing thus the land bridge leading to the Crimea.

According to the Guardian, a photo taken on the Polish border, showing Cavoli, Zaluzhny and Radakin in military uniforms, testifies to the “warm relationship” between them.
