The Ukrainian influencer asked for support for wounded soldiers staying in a clinic in Dnieper. A few hours later, enemy shells hit the medical facility. Now the Instagram star is accused of providing Russians with confidential information.
On Friday, a Russian rocket hit a medical clinic in Dnipro, where, among others, patients were being treated wounded Ukrainian soldiers. Four people were killed and many were injured. Among the injured were small children.
Another brutal attack by the Russians shocked public opinion. It only took a moment for the hospital building to turn into a pile of rubble. Doctors and employees of the facility, a passerby, and an employee of the neighboring veterinary clinic died. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called it a “crime against humanity”.
It turned out that the day before, an influencer known in Ukraine, Anna Alkhim, revealed the location of a field hospital where wounded Ukrainian soldiers are staying. In her post, Alkhim appealed to her followers to bring clothes and food to hospitals number 6 and 9, where many wounded and needy Ukrainian soldiers are staying.
After the deadly attack, the Ukrainians accused the Instagram star of contributing to the attack and revealing confidential information about the location of field hospitals to the Russians.
“This is not the first time that an influencer has been criticized for revealing information that is potentially important for Russia. Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly warned both influencers and the media against publishing sensitive messages that could be used by Russia,” the Norwegian newspaper writes.
Alkhim deleted the post and posted an explanation in which she emphasized that she had no bad intentions.
As a result of a missile strike, a three-story building of a medical institution was partially destroyed in the city, followed by burning, as well as a fire in an adjacent building.
The fire at the medical facility was extinguished in an area of 1 000 square meters. In the one-story building of the veterinary clinic, the area of the fire was 200 square meters. Rescue units have already dealt with it. Two people died on the spot, and another 23 were injured, including two children born in 2020 and 2017.
In total, 52 rescuers and 18 pieces of equipment were involved from the State Emergency Service for liquidation of the consequences. The Ukrainian authorities have since said that the attack claimed the lives of four people.
