Ukraine will regularly receive ATACMS missiles from the USA

The head of Ukrainian diplomacy answered affirmatively to the question of whether the information about the transfer of ATACMS missiles means that Ukraine will receive them regularly and in larger numbers.

As he emphasized, this is a direct result of the arrangements between the presidents of the US and Ukraine, Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelensky, in September this year, when the head of the Ukrainian state paid a visit to Washington.

On Tuesday, Zelensky confirmed the use of American ATACMS ballistic missiles by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Earlier, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources privy to the matter, that the United States secretly sent Ukraine some ATACMS missiles and Ukraine fired the first of them on Tuesday.

Ukraine has long sought ATACMS, but for a long time, the White House refused to deliver the missiles. President Biden and his adviser Jake Sullivan justified this last year by fears of starting World War III. The Pentagon suggested that the US had too few missiles in its resources. However, the breakthrough occurred around the July NATO summit in Vilnius, and according to press reports, the decision was made during President Zelensky's visit to the White House in September.

ATACMS are ballistic missiles fired from HIMARS and M270 MLRS launchers with a range of up to 300 km. Ukraine received an older version of the missiles with a range of 165 km, containing cluster submunitions.
