Ukraine to Produce Thousands of Long-Range Kamikaze Drones in 2024, Says Fiodorov

Ukraine is set to manufacture thousands of long-range kamikaze drones in 2024, with the scale of production of such weapons on the rise.

In an interview with Reuters, Mykhailo Fiodorov, the Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science, and Technology - Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, stated, "The category of long-range kamikaze drones with flight ranges of 300, 500, 700, and 1000 kilometers is growing. Two years ago, there were no such categories at all."

According to him, the recent series of attacks on Russian oil facilities reflects the government's efforts to promote the production of long-range drones. Last year, as part of the BRAVE1 initiative, approximately $2.5 million in grants were awarded to start-ups working on military technologies, with this amount set to increase tenfold in 2024.

Simultaneously, the vast majority of producers are private entities. As noted by Fiodorov, only one out of 10 companies producing drones capable of reaching Moscow and St. Petersburg is state-owned.

Fiodorov emphasized his agreement with the assessment of Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, that Kyiv has achieved a "certain parity" with Moscow in the production of long-range drones.

"We need to act in an anti-bureaucratic manner. This is the essence of the breakthrough in the technological war. We will continue to focus on this, working in this direction. Because technology can truly save us," he said.

In particular, in 2024, our country plans to produce and deliver one million FPV drones to the Armed Forces. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky in December of last year.
