Ukraine has developed the latest air defense system. The development of the military-industrial complex “quite successfully” is being tested. The bullets were already made for her. This was announced by Jehor Czerniew, deputy chairman of the Supreme Council of the National Security, Defense and Intelligence Committee.
He did not name the Ukrainian development, but said the installation was “quite successfully” undergoing testing.
“We have the latest air defense systems. Now they are mid-range. This, of course, is not the equivalent of Patriot, SAMP/T or IRIS-T. But I think it is more like Hawk or such mid-range systems that are actually manufactured and developed in Ukraine,” said the deputy head of the committee on the telethon.
According to him, missiles for unnamed Ukrainian systems have already been developed.
“This will also be covered by our military-industrial complex – he noted.
Hawk (Homing All-the-Way-Killer) – American anti-aircraft missile systems. Hawk missiles can fly at a speed of about 3,000 km/h and hit targets at an altitude of up to 40 kilometers. It was NATO's primary air defense system during the Cold War. It still operates in 10 countries.
Recall that on Friday, July 21, the secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, Oleksiy Danilov, said that the Ukrainian military-industrial complex (VPC) had already started production of means to protect ports from Russian attacks.
“There is a lack of air defense against some types of weapons used by the Russian Federation. The president set the task of strengthening the defense. Today, all contacts are working to speed up the delivery of the necessary equipment. However, I want to note that now we are developing it ourselves and the defense systems are already known,” Danilov said on the telethon.
The Ukrainian defense industry has already started to produce such protections, and in the near future the entire port infrastructure will be additionally strengthened.
Kyiv plans to increase its own weapons production. It is not only about ammunition, but also about other equipment, in particular – tanks and armored vehicles. Oleksandr Kamyshin, Minister of Strategic Industry of Ukraine, said this in an interview with Bloomberg two weeks ago.
According to him, in June 2023, the country was able to produce more mortar and artillery shells than in all of 2022. In the realities of a full-scale war with the Russian invader, these weapons became the main force. Ukraine also increased the production of “Stugna-P” anti-tank complexes.
“We have to be ambitious because we have no choice. My goal is to make Ukraine the arsenal of the free world” Kamyshin said.
