Veterans Affairs Minister Yulia Laputina reported that the Veteran's Assistant Institute has been launched in four oblasts of Ukraine. We are talking about the Lviv, Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Vinnytsia regions.
“Now the project has started in four districts – Lviv, Mykolaiv, Dnepropetrovsk, and Vinnytsia regions. The process of recruiting candidates has begun. We have submitted an electronic application. Those who are interested - signup. The first group is already studying at one of the leading universities in these regions. In the autumn, 400 people will take part in the pilot project, who will complete a three-week training and go to the municipalities to work with demobilized people. And these are primarily veterans who have been injured. It is very important to accompany these people,” said a government official.
According to Laputina, it is necessary to meet a person who has returned from the war.
“A man comes home from the front, and the house may be destroyed, the family is abroad and the company where she worked has closed. And someone has to meet that person. It could be a brother who came back earlier, went all the way as a veteran in the branch. Such people should be trained and employed at the Veteran's Assistant Institute in the Community” – explained Julia Laputina.
She added that the Ministry of Veterans Affairs also announced the creation of dialogue platforms to communicate veterans policy in regional centers. “For every community to understand what it means to care for veterans. And in March we will organize the first such regional event” - Laputina said.
According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, there will be about 3 million veterans in Ukraine after the war.
