The United States is seeking to sign a security agreement with Ukraine, following the news of signing such a document with Great Britain. US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink shared this information with journalists while commenting on the security agreement between Ukraine and Great Britain, as reported by "European Truth."

According to Brink, achieving such an agreement is a priority set by the American president.

US Ambassador Bridget Brink highlights ongoing negotiations and commitment to Ukrainian security

"As President Biden has stated, we are committed to helping Ukraine defend and deter future aggression. We have already initiated bilateral consultations with your government, the Chancellery of the President, and various government agencies. We are in discussions to define our security obligations. Two rounds of talks have taken place so far, with negotiations set to continue. The Biden administration is actively pursuing this agreement," emphasized the diplomat.

While negotiations are ongoing, Brink did not reveal specific details of the transaction. However, she underscored that the US supports Ukraine's accession to NATO, and the security agreement aims to serve as a "bridge guaranteeing security" until NATO membership becomes a reality.

"The G7 has announced support for security guarantees, both bilateral and multilateral, which will function as such a bridge"
added the ambassador.

On January 12, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak signed a security agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

The agreement encompasses defense and military cooperation, maritime security, collaboration in the defense industry, protection of critical infrastructure, as well as political, economic, and humanitarian cooperation. It also outlines collaboration in the event of a future armed attack.

The key security commitments of the UK outlined in the agreement include providing comprehensive assistance to Ukraine for protecting and restoring territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. This assistance extends to the territorial sea and the free economic (maritime) zone, focusing on rebuilding the national economy and safeguarding its citizens.

Additionally, the UK commits to preventing, actively containing, and countering military escalation and/or new aggression from the Russian Federation. Furthermore, the agreement expresses support for Ukraine's future integration with Euro-Atlantic institutions, particularly by endorsing Ukraine's reform plans and alignment with NATO.
