Russian terrorists have been holding nuclear plant workers captive, torturing and forcing them to work for several months. Part of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant team, which managed to escape from the occupation, published an appeal to the world community with a call to prevent a nuclear disaster.

The appeal states that over the past five months, the occupiers have violated many legal norms, principles and safety regulations in the field of handling a peaceful atom, and for the past two weeks, the nuclear plant has been the target of continuous military attacks: artillery strikes are becoming more and more powerful and dangerous each time. , and the threat of destruction of critically important nuclear safety facilities is more real.

The staff of the ZANP emphasizes that the nuclear power plant is not only reactors, steam generators, turbines and electrical equipment, but also more than 10,000 workers.

"And these are not just highly qualified specialists with unique competencies and experience. These are human lives, each of which is priceless. While at their workplaces, our employees are seriously injured and die. There are many victims among innocent, peaceful residents of Energodar," the appeal reads.

Nuclear workers worry not only about their lives, but also about the future of a large area that could be affected by a possible disaster at the plant.

"ZNPP employees warn that the consequences of nuclear terrorism may turn out to be an order of magnitude more terrible than the results of the tragedies in Chernobyl and Fukushima. In the global practice of the nuclear industry, there are no emergency plans designed to protect nuclear facilities in a situation where they become the territory of hostilities," the station's employees write.

At the same time, it became known today that Russia does not accept the proposal to create a demilitarized zone around the captured Zaporizhzhya NPP. Ivan Nechaev, Deputy Director of the Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, said this.

"Unacceptable proposals regarding the demilitarized zone around the Zaporizhzhya NPP. Their implementation will make the station even more vulnerable," said Nechaev.

At the same time, he added that Russia is expecting a visit of IAEA inspectors to the ZNPP "in the near future". We remind you that Russian terrorists are shelling the city of Nikopol directly from the territory of the nuclear power plant. Authorities in the city of Nikopol have told local residents of the area and the city to start preparing for a nuclear threat in case the Russians blow up the nuclear power plant in Energodar.
