Why only part of the equipment that Ukraine gets goes straight to the front? 'It's about time'
The Ukrainian military has not lost a single HIMARS system, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malar said on Tuesday. “The appearance of the US HIMARS in June 2022 was an unpleasant surprise for the Russian military,” she wrote, thanking the US for its support.
On Tuesday, Hanna Malar thanked the US via Telegram for the support that Ukraine has been receiving since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion. “Thank you for your continued support that enables us to fight for our freedom, destroy the enemy and protect our common values,” she wrote.
The Deputy Minister of Defense described the transfer of HIMARS systems to Ukraine as “one of the most powerful manifestations of support. Frightened, feeling the first huge losses, the occupiers began hunting for HIMARS, but so far they have not caught any” – noted Malar.
“For the Ukrainian military, HIMARS have become a real weapon of victory. After all, 'one rocket – one target destroyed', and this is an unattainable result for outdated Soviet counterparts” – she added.
After the transfer of American systems to Ukraine, pro-Kremlin media repeatedly reported that the Russian military “managed to destroy them.” When in February in Russia boasted about the destruction of HIMARS, it soon turned out that the Russians hit the Czech dummy.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, Russian forces have lost, among others, 231 030 soldiers (including 770 last day), 405 tanks, 7,908 armored combat vehicles. Russian authorities do not provide official data on losses.
