The energy ministers of Ukraine and the US discussed the urgent problems of preparing for the heating season

Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko and his colleague from the United States Jennifer Grenholm discussed the problems of preparations for the new heating season in Ukraine.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

It is noted that the meeting of the energy ministers of Ukraine and the US took place as part of the first government meeting of the Net Zero World initiative in Seattle (United States).

In particular, the parties discussed the priorities for obtaining international assistance to rebuild the energy system and pass the next heating season in the conditions of a full-scale war between Russia and Ukraine.

Obtaining international aid is a priority

Herman Galuszchenko stressed that while preparing for the next heating season, Ukrainian energy companies are making every effort and means to implement new approaches and solutions to ensure the security and flexibility of the energy system.

The head of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine also emphasized the actions taken to strengthen the physical protection of energy facilities, work on rebuilding the generation and grid, as well as activities in the field of digitization and cybersecurity.

Galushchenko noted that Ukraine continues to accumulate energy resources, in particular, natural gas is being pumped into storage facilities for a balanced transition next winter. We are also expanding our own production of blue fuel.

“Ukrainian gas storage facilities, which have been certified in accordance with European regulations, are increasingly used by European traders. We are ready to offer our partners up to 15 billion cubic meters of gas storage facilities, where gas storage is not only economically beneficial for the European side, but also contributes to the energy security of the entire continent,” added Herman Galuszchenko.

He emphasized the special value of the gas turbine supplied by the side American.

On August 13, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that five nuclear units had been renovated in Ukraine, and four more were under repair.
