The 12-year-old returned to Ukraine

A 12-year-old boy returned to his country. The child spent nearly two years in the territory occupied by Russia. “It was not easy, but the effect was worth it” Dmytro Lubynets, spokesman for the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, emphasized in his information about the happy return.

Dmytro Lubinets, who deals with human rights in Ukraine, announced the happy return of the 12-year-old shortly before Christmas.

The 12-year-old spent 18 months in the occupied territory. After this time, he was transported to Russia, where he had to attend a Russian school. He spent four months in the occupiers' country.

The 12-year-old couldn't go home. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine helped

The child could not be picked up by his mother because, according to Lubinets, she is a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, so after the war she had to join the army. Therefore, the woman reported to the Office of the Spokesperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights and asked for help in bringing the child home.

"The Office of the Ombudsman worked out a way for the return, taking care of logistical, security and other issues. It was not easy, but the effect was worth it: the boy is home!" - stated in Friday's announcement.

Referring to the entire situation, the spokesman appealed to all people with information about Ukrainian children forcibly displaced or deported to Russian territory. "Notify our institution", he asked. He guaranteed that state institutions are able to safely bring them back to the country.
