Russia's massive attack on Lviv. There are injuries and damage, "Shahed" flew right over the city center

On the night of September 19, an air alert was announced in Ukraine in connection with the Shahed attack. Explosions occurred in Lviv, Kryvyi Rih and Odessa, and air defense operations were heard in the Khmelnytsky Oblast. Around midnight, the Russian Federation also struck Kharkiv.

The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Russians fired 30 "Shahed" and "Iskander-M" ballistic missiles over Ukraine.

Of these, 27 Shaheds destroyed anti-aircraft missiles along the targeting route in the southern, central and western oblasts of Ukraine. The Russians attacked with unmanned drones from the south-eastern direction (Primorsko-Akhtarsk, RF), and the Iskander-M ballistic missile was launched from the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea towards Kryvyi Rih.

In Kryvyi Rih, as a result of the impact, a fire broke out in a multi-story building, and in Nikopol, an elderly man was injured.

Lviv

For two hours, explosions and air defense systems could be heard in Lviv, and kamikaze drones flew just above the historic center. Drones cause destruction and fires, and people are injured. According to preliminary information, 18 Shaheds were flying towards the Lviv region. 15 of them were shot down by PMK "Zakhid" forces, said the head of OVA Maksym Kozytsky.

The last attacks on Lviv took place on July 6, when 10 people were killed in the destruction of a residential building, and on August 15, when there were no casualties.

"Shached" attacked the city in several waves after 4 a.m. - it was the longest attack on Lviv during the entire period of the great invasion. They came from different parts of the city. At 6 a.m. the attack ended and the alarm was canceled.

According to the Air Force, on September 18 at 11 p.m., Russia launched kamikaze drones from Primorsk-Akhtyrsk, which reached the Lviv region within 5 hours.

After 4:00 a.m., Ukrainian Air Force correspondents observed the flight of at least two Shaheds over the historic center of Lviv, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. They were flying at a very low altitude. Explosions and air defense systems could be heard in various areas of the city.

According to the mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadowy, as a result of the attack, an industrial warehouse in one of the city's districts caught fire. The head of the district, Maksym Kozytsky, explained that two people were found from under the rubble of an industrial warehouse.

“The woman did not initially suffer any injuries. The man's condition is serious. More information later,” Kozytskyi wrote. He says there was a significant fire in the warehouses.

Andriy Sadowy explained that the injured person was a 26-year-old boy.

“The victim has an open fracture of the limb. He is already in hospital and receiving all the necessary help," he added.

The mayor informed that Horodocka Street on the western outskirts of the city is closed due to the operation of special equipment and all relevant services.

On the night of July 6, during another Russian attack on Lviv, rockets completely destroyed the upper two floors of three entrances to the apartment building, 10 people were killed and over 40 were injured.

The city's mayor, Andriy Sadovy, announced that it was the largest attack on Lviv's civilian infrastructure since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine.

"More than 50 apartments, entire residential buildings were destroyed – the roof was simply destroyed, the office complex was destroyed, damage was done to the school, and to the dormitories of the Lviv University of Technology."

On August 15, rockets hit the city again. Subsequently, one missile was shot down, but six hit their targets. 19 people were injured, and five people were taken to hospital.

In Lviv, a rocket fell into the yard of a kindergarten and damaged the roof of a residential building. In total, 40 houses were damaged in the Lviv region.
