The Russians carried out an attack on the city of Uman in the Cherkasy Oblast at night

On the night from Saturday to Sunday, Russian forces launched a drone attack on Cherkasy Oblast. The target of this attack was the grain warehouses in the region, with ongoing emergency response efforts at the scene. Simultaneously, unrest was reported in various other parts of Ukraine.

Natalia Humeniuk, the spokesperson for the defense forces in southern Ukraine, confirmed that at least 15 Shahed drones were successfully intercepted and shot down in the southern regions.

Ihor Taburec, the head of Cherkasy Oblast authorities, shared information about the night's events and their repercussions through social media. He expressed the gravity of the situation, stating, "During the night, the enemy launched a massive drone assault on our region.

Unfortunately, this resulted in severe damage to the industrial infrastructure in Uman, leading to a fire outbreak primarily in the grain warehouses." Additionally, Taburec reported that one individual sustained injuries during the attack and had been transported to the hospital for treatment.

Impact beyond Cherkasy: alarms across regions

The Cherkasy Oblast authorities are coordinating response efforts on-site. According to the State Service of Ukraine for Emergency Situations, the fire has spread across an area exceeding three thousand square meters.

The attack was not limited to Cherkasy Oblast. On Saturday, after 11 p.m. local time, residents of Mykolaiv and Odessa oblasts heard anti-aircraft alarms, signaling imminent danger. Subsequently, similar warnings were issued in Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Khmelnytsky, Dnipro, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Kherson oblasts. In response to this coordinated assault, Natalia Humeniuk disclosed that southern Ukraine successfully downed at least 15 Shahed drones overnight, with 14 in the Odessa Oblast and one in the Mykolaiv Oblast.

However, in the Kherson Oblast, the Russian forces employed 16 KAB corrected flight bombs for their attack. Serhiy Bratchuk, spokesperson for the Odessa administration, noted that this strategy was intended to weaken the Ukrainian air defense system and exploit potential vulnerabilities during the night's offensive.
