Russian aggression against Nikopol: Drones and artillery attacks cause casualties

On January 30th, the Dnipro Oblast found itself under sustained assault as enemy forces targeted the Synelnyk and Nikopol regions, resulting in casualties, widespread destruction, and significant disruption to civilian life.

According to reports from dniprotoday, citing Mykola Lukashuk, the head of DOR, the Synelnyk district bore the initial brunt of the attack. A missile strike inflicted severe damage to over thirty residences, along with farm buildings, a garage, and a vital power line. Although no casualties were reported among the populace, the toll on property and infrastructure was substantial.

In Nikopol and surrounding areas, the onslaught persisted throughout the day, characterized by drone incursions and artillery barrages. The relentless assault culminated in the injury of a 65-year-old man in the Pokrovsk commune, who fell victim to shrapnel wounds amidst the chaos.

Human toll and infrastructure ravaged

The scale of destruction became apparent as essential facilities such as kindergartens, schools, and shops lay in ruins. Residential structures suffered extensive damage, along with vehicles, gas pipelines, power lines, and even livestock, with 25 poultry perishing in the onslaught.

Sergei Lysak, head of the regional military administration, confirmed the gravity of the situation in Sinelnykov and Nikopol. The rocket strike in Sinelnykov resulted in the partial destruction of a residential compound and widespread structural damage, albeit without fatalities. Nikopol, besieged from dawn till dusk, witnessed the destruction of critical infrastructure and residential quarters, leaving scores displaced and traumatized.

The night brought no respite as the Russian army renewed its assault on the Krzyvorizky and Nikopol districts. Civilian areas bore the brunt of the aggression, with artillery barrages igniting fires and wreaking havoc on private properties and communal spaces.

As the dust settles on yet another day of conflict, the people of Dnipro Oblast face the grim reality of prolonged instability and the daunting task of rebuilding shattered lives and communities amidst ongoing hostilities.
