Russia is producing fake recordings that depict Ukrainian officials in fabricated scenarios.

Russia uses deepfakes. A video which Valeriy Zaluzhny allegedly incited an attack was fabricated.

The Ukrainian Army's Strategic Communications Center (StratKom) reported that Russia uses deepfake technology. The goal is to create films in which the Ukrainian command incites society into internal conflicts. A disturbing, fabricated video has appeared on the Internet.

Russian Aggression in Ukraine. Russia uses deepfake technology to create video calling for a coup

”The enemy has mastered deepfakes: Russians fabricate 'statements' of the military command and political leadership of Ukraine. Videos synthesized by neural networks have begun to appear on the Internet, in which Ukrainian statesmen exhort their fellow citizens to internal conflicts. This is an attempt to force Ukrainians to fight among themselves, otherwise, the enemy would never defeat us," StratKom said.

“We officially inform that the entire military-political leadership of Ukraine is united, the goal of victory over the enemy is unchanged and no fake, no matter how technologically advanced, will affect its achievement," it said. As it turned out, the victim of the attack was the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A video was fabricated in which Valeriy Zaluzhny allegedly incited an attack.

“The Russians published two deepfake videos with Zaluzhny”, StratKom reported, adding that the fabricated recordings appeared online on November 7. They depicted a high-ranking soldier calling for a coup.

Deepfake is a technology of artificially created videos that are generated using machine learning algorithms. The concept of deepfakes is to generate an image that deceptively resembles a real face. In this way, recipients may not recognize that the recording does not depict real people. However, the content they say is false.

Valery Zaluzhny is the target of disinformation attacks by Russia. Propaganda media reported about his resignation

Valery Zaluzhny has recently become the target of similar attacks. The Kremlin's propaganda channels repeated the information that the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov, submitted a request for the resignation of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. StratKom denied these reports.

"You cannot become pawns, much less helpers, in the information war, which is an element of Russian aggression against Ukraine"

said Defense Minister Umerov.

"Some unscrupulous politicians are trying to divide Ukrainian society today. This is no better than what Russian propagandists are doing"

he wrote.

The Ukrainian Army's Strategic Communications Center urged caution. In order not to fall victim to disinformation, you should follow only trusted sources and do not spread false information. “Don't become a victim by believing it, or an accomplice by spreading a lie,” StratKom warned.
