Poland bolsters infrastructure for aid to Ukraine, announces PM Tusk

In a recent press conference, Prime Minister Donald Tusk unveiled plans to designate border crossings with Ukraine and select road and railway segments as critical infrastructure. This move aims to ensure seamless transit of military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine, with Tusk underlining a "100 percent guarantee" against delays.

"Our objective, which we're effectively executing, is to maintain maximum capacity at the border for military and humanitarian transports traversing Poland," Tusk emphasized.

He underscored the significance of reassuring Ukrainian counterparts and allies about Poland's commitment to facilitating aid delivery, stating, "The Polish state is taking all necessary measures in this regard."

Tusk elucidated that the designation would entail a revised organizational framework at border crossings and related transportation routes. Practical measures will be implemented to optimize traffic flow without interruptions or delays, he assured.

Tusk also addressed the need for separate discussions on supporting Ukraine and safeguarding Polish farmers and markets amidst trade liberalization with Ukraine. He pledged to explore protective measures for Polish farmers through domestic initiatives and negotiations with Ukrainian and European authorities.

Responding to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's call for a joint government meeting on the Ukraine-Poland border, Tusk affirmed plans for a summit on March 28 in Warsaw. He highlighted ongoing technical talks between ministerial representatives aimed at fostering fruitful discussions on border issues and bilateral trade.
