Zelensky visits the USA. Biden assured: We will remain by your side

Today, the fate of Ukraine's freedom hangs in the balance, but if we do not stop Putin, freedom everywhere will be at risk, US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He again called on Congress to allocate funds to support Ukraine, adding that the Kremlin is openly happy with the Republicans' attitude. blocking the adoption of funds.

President Zelensky, in turn, said that agreeing to give up territory to Russia would be "madness".

Ukraine will emerge from this war proud, free and strongly rooted in the West - unless we withdraw

Biden said.

International freedom at risk, President warns, as Funding Stalls in Congress

He pledged that his administration would support Ukraine as long as it could, but again warned that funding was running out without Congress approving another funding package. He also expressed his outrage at the attitude of Republicans who are blocking the package, demanding in return a significant tightening of immigration policy.

"It's amazing that we've gotten to this point (...) We have to be aware of how it's perceived in the world. How it's perceived by Russia" - Biden said.

"The host of a Kremlin TV program recently said, and I quote, 'good job, Republicans' (...) If you are celebrated by Russian propaganda, it may be time to rethink your approach" - he added.

At the same time, he once again expressed his willingness to change the immigration system and compromise with the opposition. He stressed, however, that Ukraine should not be a “hostage” of talks on immigration.

He also said that "today the fate of Ukraine's freedom hangs in the balance" but if Putin is not stopped, he will threaten the freedom of people all over the world.

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, presented similar stakes, claiming that Ukraine was fighting "for our freedom and yours" and added that this slogan resonates most in Poland, the Baltic States and Moldova.

Right now we have to ensure that they win the war

When asked whether the United States' goal was a Ukrainian victory or just the defense of Ukraine, Biden argued for victory, by which he meant an independent, free and capable of defending Ukraine.

In turn, answering the question whether Ukraine will receive an invitation to join the Alliance during next year's NATO summit in Washington, Biden said "Ukraine's future is in NATO - there is no doubt".
