Powerful HIMARS attack. Hundreds of Russian soldiers died

The HIMARS missile systems supplied to Ukraine by the United States are still the main weapon against the Russian aggressor. Thanks to it, every few days it is possible to effectively attack military barracks, ammunition and fuel depots, which makes it difficult for Russian troops to operate on the front line.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine have just announced that they have carried out another powerful and extremely successful attack on the training camp of Russian soldiers. This time it took place in the temporarily occupied western part of the Kherson region. Hundreds of aggressors were to die in the attack. Powerful HIMARS attack on Russian training camp

We can see the view from the observation drone on it. The attack took place on the island of Dzharylgach, the largest island in Ukraine. The Russian army has gathered hundreds of soldiers in a large training camp. They were prepared to carry out various missions on the battlefield. It is no secret that it is primarily about securing the areas leading to the Crimea. In the video, we can see several groups of aggressors, several residential buildings and vehicles.

First, the Ukrainian drone tracked the camp, then its position was sent to the HIMARS system operations center, and a moment later several missiles were fired from the launcher. The film shows the initial phase of the attack on Russian soldiers. The shells exploded in places where the soldiers were most active.

Fewer Russian soldiers defending Crimea

The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that as a result of the combined attack, hundreds of soldiers were killed on the spot and dozens were seriously injured. It was one of the most spectacular actions in recent weeks. As the representatives of the SZU explain, hundreds of aggressors will not appear at the front, thanks to which they will not be able to defend the areas leading to the Crimea, which is one of the most important targets of the ongoing Ukrainian counteroffensive.

What is the HIMARS system?

The mobile launcher is 7 meters long, 2.4 meters wide and 3.2 meters high. It reaches a speed of 95 km/h and has a range of 480 kilometers. The crew consists of 3 soldiers, namely the driver, weapons operator and commander. The cabin in which they are staying is completely enclosed and armored, providing protection against small arms fire and artillery shell fragments.

HIMARS carries a single launcher identical to the M270 MRLS system, but this one here is half the size. This was the goal of the designers, who wanted to create a lighter equivalent of the M270 system. It can carry 227 mm rounds as well as guided munitions with a range of 15 to over 70 kilometers. The kit is also capable of using cluster submunition rounds.
