The President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, called Ukraine's accession to the European Union and NATO extremely important for his country. He stated this during a meeting of the Security Council of Poland with the participation of the country's new Council of Ministers. In his opinion, the president and the government of the Republic of Poland must cooperate in implementing these plans.

For us, the issue of European Ukraine's integration with two international structures - the EU and NATO - is extremely important

– Duda emphasized.

In his opinion, the decision that the North Atlantic Alliance would make on this issue would be priceless.

Firstly, we are displacing NATO's eastern flank in this part of our border east of Poland, which is of obvious importance from the point of view of the security of our country. Moreover, we are gaining another strong military partner in NATO, which at the moment already has extensive military experience, taking into account two years of defense against Russia

Duda emphasized.

The Polish leader emphasized that Ukraine has an experienced army using the latest technologies.

The head of Poland expressed hope that his country would take an active part in the reconstruction of Ukraine to the benefit of Polish business and neighborly relations. He also promised that, together with the new Polish government of Donald Tusk, they will actively work to support Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration.

The discussion also touched upon the issue of a hybrid attack on the border with Belarus. Duda described this situation as a serious test for national security that requires strengthening borders and international cooperation.

The President of Poland expressed hope that the upcoming NATO summit in Washington would strengthen the security of the alliance's eastern flank. Particular emphasis was placed on the need to permanently station allied armies, especially American ones, on Polish territory.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk promised support for Ukraine

On December 12, Donald Tusk became the head of the Polish government for the third time in his political career. In his speech, the newly elected prime minister emphasized that his country would support Ukraine even more.

According to him, he will have a difficult task to improve relations with Ukraine, which have significantly deteriorated over the last six months.

We will demand full mobilization of the West to help Ukraine. I can no longer listen to politicians who talk about being tired of the situation in Ukraine. They tell President Zelensky that they are tired of this situation

– Tusk said.

On December 14, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and the new Prime Minister of Poland, Donald Tusk, had their first telephone conversation. Zelensky congratulated Tusk on his nomination and the “beginning of a new page” in bilateral relations between Ukraine and Poland.
