At least three people have been killed and eight injured in drone attacks carried out by Russia in Ukraine overnight from Friday to Saturday. "We need greater capabilities in air defense from our partners," appealed President Volodymyr Zelensky.

"Russia continues to wage war against the civilian population. It launched a nighttime attack using Shahed drones on Kharkiv, Odessa, and cities in the Sumy region. One of the drones struck a residential building in Odessa, destroying 18 apartments," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky conveyed on Saturday morning on social media.

As he added, at least two people died, eight were injured, including a child. Several minutes later, information was provided about the recovery of a child's body from the rubble of a high-rise building in Odessa. "We need greater capabilities in air defense from our partners. The Ukrainian air shield must be strengthened to effectively protect our nation from Russian terror. More air defense systems and anti-aircraft missiles save lives," he emphasized.

"Russia takes action every time the West fails to act. For every word spoken to explain why something cannot be done for Ukraine, Russia takes real human lives. For every undelivered air defense platform, Russia responds with hundreds of rockets and drones attacking cities in Ukraine," commented Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on the X portal.

He appealed to Western countries, among other things, for the production, purchase, and ban on the export of weapons beyond Europe.

War in Ukraine. Staff statement

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in a report published on Saturday before 7 a.m. stated that there were 82 clashes with Russian troops in the past 24 hours. Additionally, the Russians conducted nine missile strikes, 100 airstrikes, and 161 shelling from multiple rocket launchers.

Fourteen Shahed drones launched by Russian forces were also destroyed. Artillery shelling affected over 140 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Dnipro, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions.

The situation remains unchanged on the Ukrainian-Belarusian border, while troops are stationed along the northern border with Russia, engaging Ukrainians with their presence and conducting sabotage activities. Along the border in the Belgorod region, Russians are fortifying the border with minefields. The heaviest fighting is taking place around Lyman, Bilohorivka, and Andriivka in Donbas. There were no clashes in the direction of Kupyansk. The Russians also did not assault the front in the Kherson region. The General Staff also reports 13 Ukrainian airstrikes on Russian troops.
