Negotiations with Russia? Dmytro Kuleba: There were 200 rounds

The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba

- About 200 rounds of negotiations have been held with Russia since 2014, said the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba. In this way, he referred to recent reports about appeals by Western politicians and persuasion to start peace talks with the country ruled by Vladimir Putin.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba responded to appeals from Western officials regarding peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.

He recalled that from 2014, when the Russian Federation occupied Crimea and invaded Donbas, until 2022, Ukraine had conducted approximately 200 rounds of negotiations with this country - we read on the Ukrainian Pravda website.

During this time, 20 ceasefire agreements were reached, all of which Russia quickly broke, the minister added.

None of the 200 rounds of negotiations or 20 ceasefire agreements prevented Putin from launching a brutal, full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Those who say that Ukraine should now negotiate with Russia are either uninformed or misled, or they are on Russia's side and want Putin to rest before even greater aggression

Kuleba emphasized.

Ukraine's negotiations with Russia. Western pressure?

Earlier, the NBC channel, citing sources, reported that American and European officials had started closed-door talks with Kyiv on possible peace talks with the Kremlin to end the war.

Recently, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, also visited the capital of Ukraine. Although officially these were talks about the country's accession to the European Union, the media speculated about the desire to encourage a truce with Russia.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis called Western officials' reflections on the possibility of such negotiations “dangerous”.
