Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are currently pointless

US Deputy Secretary of State James O'Brien said today's negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are completely pointless. According to him, Russia is in no way ready to conduct objective, real peace negotiations with Ukraine. Earlier, Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson called aid to Ukraine a priority of the US Congress.

The United States Department of State believes that negotiations between Ukraine and Russia today are completely meaningless. This was announced by Deputy Secretary of State James O'Brien at a briefing.

One of the journalists asked for a comment in connection with an article by the German daily Bild about the alleged existence of a German-American plan to force Ukraine to agree to negotiations with Putin. In turn, James O'Brien noted that he found the Bild article quite interesting, but it did not contain American politics.

We have always said that this issue should be resolved by Ukraine. Without Ukraine, we do not decide anything about Ukraine

- said James O'Brien.

He also noted that Russia is in no way ready to conduct objective, real peace negotiations with Ukraine.

It seems to us that President Putin is saying that he will have to wait at least a year or more before he thinks about ending this war

- O'Brien said.

In his opinion, conducting the discussion on the Ukrainian side would be pointless, because it is not a dialogue, but a monologue about capitulation. And this state of affairs does not coincide with US policy.

Aid for Ukraine is a priority for the US

In October, US President Joe Biden submitted to Congress a previously announced aid request of over $105 billion, including $61.4 billion for Ukraine and $14.3 billion for Israel. Biden urged Congress to vote on both initiatives in the package. So far, Congress has not supported this request from the Biden administration.

The US has removed speculation about the alleged choice between Ukraine and Israel

During the meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine "Ramstein", the US dispelled all speculations regarding the alleged choice between Ukraine and Israel. The meeting of the 17th Rammstein format meeting took place on November 22 online. During the meeting, US representatives once again emphasized their support for Ukraine.

“It is very important that yesterday our key US partner, namely Defense Minister Lloyd Austin, actually removed all speculations that the US allegedly has to choose between Israel and Ukraine”

said the head of the press and information department of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Hilarion Pavluk on briefing on the results of the 17th Rammstein format meeting.

According to Pawluk, during the online negotiations, "it was made very clear twice that this cannot be about any choice, the US stands on Israel's side, but at the same time it is fully committed to all its obligations regarding support for Ukraine."
