Is Putin Afraid of Navalny? He Certainly Acts Like He Is

"Give me back my son, give us his body back", said Alexei Navalny's mother in the recording. The wife of the Russian oppositionist, Julia, implored the Kremlin not to delay and to provide her with the opportunity for a "dignified burial and last farewell"

A recording has surfaced online in which Alexei Navalny's mother addresses Vladimir Putin, demanding that the Russian leader hand over the body.

Navalny's mother and wife made an appeal to Putin: "Vladimir Putin... Let me finally see my son," she said in a recording from outside the penal colony where Navalny was killed.

Lyudmila Navalnaya added that her suffering has been ongoing for the fifth day. "They don't give me the body, they don't even tell me where it is," she added. She also mentioned that she had sent an official letter to Putin with the same demand.

A post by the politician's wife also appeared online with a similar appeal. "I don't care how the killer's spokesman will comment on my words. Give Alexei's body back and let him be buried with dignity, do not prevent people from saying goodbye to him", Yulia Navalnaya wrote on social media. She also requested journalists "not to ask about her, but about Alexei".

Navalny's "sudden" death: Russian prison services stated on Friday that Navalny died suddenly in a penal colony above the Arctic Circle in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug in the Far North. Navalny "felt bad" and "lost consciousness."

The politician's body is said to be in the Selekhard mortuary, but an autopsy has not yet been performed. The Russian Investigative Committee stated that this delay was due to the extension of the investigation into Navalny's death.

"Give me back my son, give us his body back"

January marked three years since Navalny was arrested and imprisoned after returning to Russia from Germany, where he was undergoing treatment following a poisoning attempt, most likely carried out by the Russian secret services. The authorities initiated further criminal cases against him, resulting in sentences totaling over 30 years of imprisonment.
