Mobilization in Ukraine. They published the draft bill. The servers are down
On the evening of December 25, a draft law on mobilization was registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The interest in the document was so great that government websites went down for several hours. One of the sanctions for evading the draft will be deprivation of benefits and services from the state. “Penalties” are also provided for men staying abroad.
The document, which spans 72 pages, caused the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine's website to cease functioning as soon as it was published due to server overload.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is set to consider new rules for mobilization and military service on January 10. Deputies will give the final shape to the bill, which will later reach President Volodymyr Zelensky's desk. The current project was prepared by working groups.
David Arkhamia, head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, announced the submission of the bill a few hours earlier.
"Today, the government is to present a draft mobilization bill, which I am working on at the request of the army"
David Arkhamia wrote on Telegram.
"The military command has submitted a request to mobilize 500,000 soldiers. The government is developing the rules. The President clearly emphasized that it requires a comprehensive approach to service in the Armed Forces. Simply recruiting new people and not solving the problems of those who currently perform this function is not an option.
Parliament is waiting for the ready document that can be discussed in the Commission. The army needs a solution to its problems. Society wants to hear answers to all sensitive questions" Arkhamia emphasized.
The project was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada on the day when Ukrainians celebrated Christmas on the new date for the first time.
"We must continue working, regardless of the calendar. Merry Christmas to all believers. Light always overcomes darkness. May evil leave our country and our homes forever. Christ is born!" — added the MP.
