Ukraine Aims for Air Superiority in 2024 to Counter Kremlin Forces

There are already many countries expressing interest in signing a security guarantees agreement with Ukraine. This announcement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, during a telethon broadcast.

Kuleba stated, "There are already countries [that want to sign an agreement on security guarantees, ed.]. I won't reveal my surprise, but it must be admitted that the example of Great Britain has inspired many countries to negotiate such an agreement and to make it more powerful than originally planned".

According to the minister, the agreement concluded with London is significant not only in itself but also because it has provided a "powerful impulse to others".

He assured, "I assure you that new agreements will appear soon."

UK-Ukraine security agreement

Kuleba also mentioned that he was aware of the content of the announced agreement between Ukraine and France. "But let's wait for developments when they happen. Over the last two years, France has shown that it is firmly on the side of Ukraine", said the minister.

Regarding the UK-Ukraine security agreement, on January 12, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak signed a security guarantees agreement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his visit to Kiev. Consequently, Great Britain became the first country to sign such an agreement with Ukraine. The agreement provides guarantees of financial, military, and other support.

Dmytro Kuleba about Ukraine's goal for 2024.

The upcoming anniversary of the outbreak of the war in Ukraine is quickly approaching. The front lines continue to witness intense and ongoing battles, with Kremlin forces launching attacks from various directions. Ukraine's foreign minister has outlined the country's priorities for the third year of Moscow's invasion, expressing a determination to "rid Russia from its airspace" in 2024.

"In 2022, we defeated them on land. In 2023, we triumphed at sea, and in 2024, our complete focus is on achieving victory in the airspace," explained the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs during a panel discussion at a forum in Switzerland.

These statements align with President Volodymyr Zelensky's recent remarks, where he emphasized the critical importance of gaining air superiority. Zelensky stated on Tuesday that Ukraine "must achieve air superiority" to enable "progress on the ground". The collective goal is to secure control of the airspace to enhance Ukraine's strategic position in the ongoing conflict.
