Is there a curfew and can fireworks be set off in Ukraine? What should residents of Dnipro and the region remember on New Year's Eve?

On the night of December 31, 2023, and January 1, 2024, a curfew remains in effect in Dnipro and the surrounding region, prohibiting individuals from being on the streets. According to the regional police, law enforcement officers have initiated heightened patrols with a primary focus on preventing public order violations, identifying locations engaged in illegal trade of excise goods, and ensuring compliance with the curfew.

Concerning the handling of individuals suspected of criminal activities, if patrol officers encounter someone on the streets during curfew hours, they are tasked with determining the purpose of their presence, checking for any administrative or criminal offenses, and, if necessary, escorting them to the police station. This information was provided by the police to Sospilny.

Previously, Ihor Klymenko, the head of the National Police of Ukraine, emphasized that the curfew would not be lifted on New Year's Eve, thus ruling out public celebrations in open spaces.

The curfew hours vary across different regions. In the Synelniki area, it commences at 10 p.m., while in the Kryvorizky, Nikopol, Novomoskovsk, and Pavlograd regions, it begins at 11:00 p.m. In the Dnipro and Kamensk regions, the curfew takes effect at midnight, lasting until 5:00 a.m., except in the Nikopol district where it concludes at 4:00 a.m.

It's important to note that there is a prohibition on the sale and use of pyrotechnic products, as reiterated by the police. Both administrative and criminal penalties are applicable for selling and igniting fireworks.
