Local communities can now purchase electronic warfare (EW) equipment from civilian manufacturers to counter Russian missiles and drones. This announcement was made by Yuri Ignat, the spokesperson of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during a telethon.

According to him, numerous civil enterprises are currently involved in the production of EW systems. "Active work in this direction is ongoing today.

This is what local communities can buy — to attract resources to save lives. Small arms, pistols, and anti-aircraft fire cannot be purchased. However, EW works against drones and can impact enemy air attack capabilities. The missile may be redirected and not reach its target," the spokesperson informed AP.

Ignat pointed out that the heads of some companies are already contemplating how to secure their facilities, stating, "This is the future. There is no need to spend expensive missiles if they can stop the enemy."

During the missile attack on the night of January 13, 2023, Russia targeted Ukraine with cruise missiles, aeroballistic missiles, ballistic missiles, air missiles, anti-aircraft guided missiles, and attack drones. Ukrainian air defense successfully destroyed 7 Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 cruise missiles and 1 Kh-59 guided air missile.

The Air Force reported that more than 20 attack vehicles, not included in the kill statistics, failed to achieve their targets due to active electronic warfare countermeasures.
