Human rights activist and Dnipro journalist Olha Wolynska presented her book “How War Changes Us” at the International Book Forum in Vienna. One of the copies of the publication was presented at the forum to the President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen.
The book is presented at the official stand of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The book forum in Vienna will last until November 12 inclusive.
As the author says: Her book “How War Changes Us” is a collection of artistic interviews with Ukrainians who testify about Russia's war crimes in Ukraine.
These stories reflect the experiences of millions of Ukrainians who are currently going through war and experiencing similar tragedies. You can't distance yourself from this pain. It is empathy for this pain that makes us human. We also need to talk about it to spread the truth about war crimes committed by Russia against the Ukrainian civilian population, contrary to Russian propaganda
she notes.
The book consists of 12 interviews with Ukrainians who share their personal experiences. They are those who are lucky to survive and those who save lives.
The collection also presents interviews with Ukrainian intellectuals. These are Nobel Peace Prize winner Oleksandra Matviychuk, journalist and video blogger Ayder Muzhdabayev and director Alisa Kovalenko. The collection also includes an exclusive interview dedicated to the memory of the famous Ukrainian documentary photographer Max Levin, murdered by the Russian military.
This book is not about pain, although there is enough of it in the book, but rather about choices and true values. The choice is not to stand aside, but to unite with like-minded people to protect the values of freedom and democracy
says Wolynska.
In her opinion, the collection is intended to motivate European readers to take active action and support Ukraine.
The book was published by the Austrian publishing house Verlag Klingenberg.
Olha Wolynska held an autograph session at the International Book Forum in Vienna. Previously, the book was presented at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
