The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced the dismantling of a network of agents of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) operating in Kremenchuk in the Poltava region. The purpose of the group was to detect and destroy the HIMARS rocket artillery systems transferred to Ukraine by the US.
“Representatives of the secret services of the aggressor country tried to obtain information about the critical infrastructure facilities in the region and the defense forces protecting them,” the SBU said.
According to the Ukrainian services, these people also tried to determine the positions of the Ukrainian army's air defense systems and the locations of the HIMARS systems and M777 howitzers. The SBU reported that the network included two Ukrainian citizens who had moved to Kremenchuk from Donbas. Their activities were overseen by one of the pro-Russian separatists from Donetsk, and it was he who provided information to FSB officers, Ukrainian services said.
