For Ukraine's freedom and gender equality. More and more women serve in the Ukrainian army

Thanks to the elimination of numerous restrictions applicable to women who want to join the military service, the Ukrainian ministry is recording a record number of applications from representatives of the fair sex. Over the last two years, 12,000 women have enlisted in the Ukrainian army.

The number of women in the Ukrainian army has increased by 12,000, or 40 percent, over the last two years, and now there are almost 43,000 of them, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense announced on Telegram on Monday.

The ministry emphasized that it had eliminated all restrictions on women serving in the army.

"While previously they could serve in positions mainly in the field of medicine, communications, accounting, administration and kitchen, now they can be in the army drivers, grenade launcher operators, deputy commanders of a reconnaissance group, commander of an infantry fighting vehicle, shooter, sniper, etc."

- emphasized the ministry.

Another change that makes it easier for women to take up service in the army is to raise the age limit for service from 40 to 60 years, as in the case of men - it was emphasized.

Women in the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Female soldiers in the Ukrainian army are issued men's uniforms - from underwear to shoes - whose cut and size are not always adapted to women's figures, and the same applies to bulletproof vests - their armor is often too heavy.

The regulation specifying the needs of the army on the front line does not take into account the needs of female soldiers, such as the provision of hygiene materials, which is why our organization fills these gaps.

"We realize that today our government has many important tasks that require a lot of work and money, starting from defending our sky and ending with the supply of weapons to the front line, so the basic needs of our defenders are mostly met by volunteers".

She says that in the first phase of the war, there was a shortage of literally everything, but after a few weeks the basic needs were met, and the foundation began to organize sleeping pads, sleeping bags, women's shoes, helmets, vests and other elements of the soldiers' equipment.

Attacks from Russia continue

Women join the army because they want to help defend their country. Meanwhile, Russian missile and artillery attacks continue on targets in Ukraine.

As a result of Sunday's attack on the Dnipro Region, 20 private houses, five farm buildings and a warehouse were damaged, and power lines were also damaged, according to local authorities.

At the same time, Kherson in southern Ukraine was also shelled. The Russians used planes to attack the suburbs. Fortunately, in both cases, there were no casualties.
