For the first time, Ukraine will spend the upcoming heating season solely at the expense of its own gas production. Kiev is increasing its volume, these indicators are constantly growing. - We have enough gas, tariffs are stable - said the president of Naftogaz Ukrainy, Oleksiy Chernyshov.

Ukraine will spend the heating season solely on its own gas

For the first time in its history, Ukraine will spend the heating season solely at the expense of its own gas production. This was reported by Naftogaz Ukrainy.

I would like to remind you that we are increasing the volume of gas extraction from our own production, these indicators are increasing. In 2023, Naftogaz drilled a record number of new wells, and we will continue this trend next year. We plan to spend this winter on Ukrainian-produced gas, and our calculations confirm this possibility – said the head of Naftogaz Ukrainy, Oleksiy Chernyshov.

Chernyshov said that the heating season in Ukraine will pass without any shocks not only to gas supplies, but also to the unchanged cost of gas for residents.

We are completely sure about the coming winter. We have enough gas and tariffs are stable. Therefore, I ask all consumers to provide energy-saving measures and treat this type of energy responsibly. Because it is a Ukrainian production, our common achievement.

Ukraine increases gas production

Since the beginning of 2023, the company "Ukrgazvydobuwannya" has increased its daily gas production by 3.31 million m3. This is the volume of commercial gas, i.e. gas transferred for sale to consumers. Since the beginning of the year, 54 new gas wells have been put into operation in Ukraine. The number of service operations was also increased.

At the end of summer 2022, a well was launched in the Lviv region, which ensures the production of 115,000. cubic meters of gas per day, which is quite a high indicator for the western region. In October 2022, Ukraine resumed the operation of infrastructure facilities in the areas retaken from the Russians. This allowed for the extraction of approximately 500,000 additional cubic meters of natural gas per day.

In March 2023, Ukraine resumed gas production and brought it to the level at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion - over 50.5 million m3 per day. On September 19, the total amount of natural gas in Ukraine's underground storage facilities reached 14.7 billion cubic meters. The plan of the Council of Ministers to achieve the indicator of the forecast balance of natural gas storage necessary in the heating season was implemented ahead of schedule - said the Ukrainian Minister of Energy, Herman Galushchenko.
