Fighting is taking place on Russian territory. In the Belgorod region, near the border with Ukraine, a battle began between volunteers of the "Freedom of Russia" legion and Putin's soldiers. This was reported by the Legion's press service.
On Thursday, September 28, in Belgorod Oblast, right along the Russia-Ukraine border, a confrontation erupted between volunteers associated with the "Freedom of Russia" legion and troops affiliated with Putin's government.
The Telegram channel of the Legion's press service reported this incident. According to information provided by Russian volunteers, there have been no casualties or fatalities among their ranks.
"Our units are currently operating within the Belgorod region. Fortunately, none of our legionnaires have been injured or killed, and we are executing our mission as planned. We are committed to ridding our homeland of what we view as the influence of Putin's regime. The conflict is ongoing, and we will provide further details later," stated the press service of the "Freedom of Russia" Legion.
Previously, the operational staff of the Belgorod region had reported a clash between "Russian Federation border guards and a Ukrainian sabotage group." They stated, "There is information from multiple sources indicating that saboteurs entered the Starosillia and Terebreno areas. No breaches occurred, as border guards, in cooperation with other security forces, engaged in a confrontation along the demarcation line," as reported by the operational headquarters of the Belgorod region.
Russian authorities have also declared a state of emergency in the village of Starosillya. They clarified that "the residents were evacuated in October of last year, and currently, no one resides there."
The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, said in an interview for the NV portal that raids by soldiers of the Russian Volunteer Corps fighting on the side of Ukraine on the border areas of the Russian Federation will become more and more frequent.
The activities of the Russian Volunteer Corps and other units will develop, as will the scale of events related to these activities – said Budanow.
In early September, communications advisor for the Russian opposition and the Russian Freedom Legion, Oleksiy Baranovsky, said in an interview for NV that Russian insurgents were preparing for another attack on Russian territory. According to him, the border regions of the Russian Federation are currently defenseless due to the concentration of Putin's army on the occupied territories in Ukraine.
