Prime Minister Donald Tusk commenced his visit to Kyiv, as announced by the Prime Minister's Office on Monday morning. The head of the Polish government is scheduled to meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during his visit. The initial agenda includes paying tribute to Ukrainian soldiers who lost their lives in the war.

The Prime Minister's Office shared a photo of Prime Minister Donald Tusk at the railway station on social media.

The statement says, “Prime Minister Donald Tusk is embarking on his visit to Kyiv, where he will meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal”.

The first activity of the visit is to honor those who sacrificed their lives in Ukraine's defensive war against Russia's aggression. This marks Donald Tusk's first meeting with these politicians since assuming the role of Prime Minister.

Donald Tusk's visit to Kyiv had been announced several days prior, with the Prime Minister mentioning it in an interview with three television stations on Friday,

January 12. During the interview, he indicated that the visit to the Ukrainian capital would be one of the topics discussed with President Andrzej Duda in their meeting the previous week.

“For both of us, and the president was also very involved in this, the situation in Ukraine and on the front is the number one issue for Polish security. There are also other matters to be addressed there, such as those related to the interests of Polish carriers, so we have much to discuss in Kyiv”, stated the head of government.

The timing of the new prime minister's visit to the country is not coincidental. Ukraine celebrates the Day of Unity of Ukraine on January 22, commemorating the unification of the Ukrainian People's Republic with the Western Ukrainian People's Republic in 1919.
