A Ukrainian citizen returning from Poland to her homeland gave birth to a child on the Szczecin-Przemyśl train. Police officers from Gliwice came to the rescue and provided care for the girl's two other children while the mother was in the hospital.

Extraordinary events took place on Tuesday, September 12, on one of the trains traveling through Polish Silesia to the border town of Przemyśl. The young Ukrainian woman was returning to her homeland by Szczecin-Przemyśl train to give birth in the local hospital, as scheduled. Her two daughters traveled with her. Suddenly, around four in the morning, a woman on the train began to give birth.

According to the Gliwice police, a Ukrainian woman who decided to return to her home country to give birth there and be with her immediate family gave birth to a child on the way.

Around 4:00 a.m., before the train stopped in Gliwice, the woman began to have convulsions. Train employees immediately called the emergency number. When the train arrived at the station, an ambulance was already waiting at the station, police officers from Gliwice report.

A Ukrainian woman went into labor on a train in Poland

The birth began on the Szczecin-Przemyśl train, in which a pregnant woman and her two daughters tried to get to the Polish-Ukrainian border in order to cross it.

It turned out that in addition to doctors, police help would also be needed. The young woman stated that she had neither relatives nor friends in Poland who could take care of her two daughters, aged 7 and 4. The children could not stay with their mother in the hospital. Therefore, the officer on duty started looking for a suitable place for the children.

Fortunately, one family in Gliwice, which runs an ambulance service, had vacancies and agreed to take care of the girls. The police equipped the police car with child seats and safely took both girls to a temporary place where they will wait for their mother's return from the hospital, the police added.
