Attack on the Crimean bridge: the SBU used the Sea Baby drone for the first time (video)

The SBU openly took responsibility for the operation for the first time.

Security Services provided CNN with exclusive footage showing the July moment when they used an experimental Sea Baby drone to attack the Crimean Bridge.

This is stated on the website of the news agency. The SBU warned the occupying "authorities" that such attacks would continue.

According to the publication, the SBU openly took responsibility for the operation for the first time. Ukrainian special services also took responsibility for the first attack on the bridge on October 8.

The July 17 attack damaged the bridge's lanes and two civilians were killed, according to Russian officials. It was the second attack on the bridge and showed how difficult it is to protect Russia's only independent connection to the peninsula, American journalists note.

SBU chief Vasyl Malyuk said the drone called Sea Baby was the result of months of development work that began immediately after the invasion. According to him, the attack on the bridge was a joint operation of the Ukrainian Navy, which he led together with Admiral of the Navy Oleksiy Neizhpapa.

“ Surface drones are a unique invention of SB. No private company is involved. With the help of these drones, we recently successfully destroyed the Crimean Bridge, the large amphibious assault ship "Olengorski Gorniak" and the SIG tanker", he said.

The video shows the pilot's screen moments before Sea Baby delivered up to 850 kilograms of explosives to one of the bridge's concrete pillars. Service sources also provided CNN with two surveillance videos showing the moment one drone crashed into the roadway of the bridge, followed by another drone blast hitting the rail section about five minutes later from the opposite direction.

“In the final stages of preparation, we couldn't even think about sleeping or eating. We were completely focused on the operation. The last few days have been quite hectic. When the explosion happened, we were very happy and started congratulating each other. It was a very emotional moment for all of us and for our victory, which will surely come soon,” recalls Malyuk.

He noted that Ukraine's western partners showed interest in their activities and willingness to use their experience.
