Drones downed in Moscow and surrounding region with no casualties, Russian officials say
"Last night, the air defense shot down a drone in the Mozhaisk region of the Moscow region. The second one hit a building in the city. Emergency services were sent to the scene," Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin said.
Although the Russian statement shows that there were two unmanned aerial vehicles, Reuters reports that three drones tried to attack Moscow.
Two were to be destroyed and the third crashed into a building in the center of Moscow.
Information about the drone that crashed in the Russian capital is confirmed by recordings that appeared on social media.
According to the report, the attacked building was damaged between the 10th and 15th floors. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties.
An aviation official told TASS that Moscow airports have temporarily suspended flights.
The White House reacted to the information from Moscow.
"The United States does not encourage or enable attacks against Russia", a US State Department spokesman said.
He added that “it is up to Ukraine to decide how it decides to defend itself from the Russian invasion, which began last February”.
