German local governments refuse to accept refugees from Ukraine. Lands are increasingly overloaded

The CDU party in Germany proposes that men from Ukraine who decided to run away from their country and find shelter in Germany should be deprived of social benefits. The main goal is to cut them off from the so-called Buergergeld, i.e. unemployment benefit, which amounts to approximately EUR 450 per adult.

The motivation for this action is to encourage these men to return to their country so that they can replace frontline soldiers who are exhausted after two years of conflict. This information was reported by the Merkur website on Friday.

The CDU, understandably, argues that it is about justice for soldiers and their families who remain at the front

adds Merkur.

Over the last two years, approximately 200,000 Ukrainians of military age decided to desert and escape to Germany - recalls Merkur. The portal emphasizes that "the unfavorable course of the war (partly caused by the fatigue of the West) now puts German society before a difficult dilemma: will it accept that these people will refrain from defending their homeland and that others will have to die for them"?

“Those fit for service in the army left the country”

Merkur notes that finding a simple answer to this question is not easy, especially in a situation where Russia has not formally declared war on Ukraine and has described the aggression as a "special operation".

Marco Buschmann, Minister of Justice (FDP), stated that the federal government "cannot and will not force anyone into military service".

"However, the fact is that hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians capable of military service have left their country, which does not help either Ukraine, which is struggling to survive, or the European countries hosting refugees and their citizens, who already bear significant financial burdens related to arms supplies to Ukraine," Mercury states.
