Biden and Zelensky to meet in US next week
On September 21, US President Joe Biden will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington. This was announced by Jake Sullivan, national security adviser to the US president.

According to him, after the meeting of the UN General Assembly, Biden will return to Washington to receive Zelensky at the White House.

“This will be their third meeting at the White House and comes at a critical time when Russia is desperately seeking help from third countries like North Korea over its brutal war in Ukraine, while Ukrainian forces continue to make progress in their counteroffensive.” added. Sullivan said.

According to him, Biden is looking forward to the opportunity to hear Zelensky's point of view and "confirm to the world and to the United States, to the American people, his commitment to continue to lead global support for Ukraine in its defense of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Sullivan also noted that U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will hold a meeting with dozens of allies and partners in Europe early next week "as we continue to coordinate the delivery of weapons and equipment to Ukrainian forces".

Biden and Zelensky to meet in US next week

Zelensky will also visit the US Capitol next Thursday, according to a GOP source familiar, though he will not address a joint session of Congress and is instead expected to meet individually with lawmakers and members of leadership.

The anticipated visit, first reported by Punchbowl News, comes as Congress is weighing a White House request for additional aid to Ukraine. Its passage remains in doubt, with the GOP fiercely divided over the issue.

Zelensky addressed a joint session last year, but opposition to Ukraine funding has grown particularly inside the House GOP.

Biden last met Zelensky in-person on the sidelines of a NATO summit in Lithuania in July. Before that, the men sat for talks in May at the G7 summit in Japan. Despite support from the United States for an appearance at last week’s G20 summit in India, Zelensky wasn’t extended an invitation by the hosts.

Earlier, NBC News reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky plans to visit the UN General Assembly in New York next week and meet with US President Joe Biden.
