Russia hit Kryvyi Rih with rockets: what is known about the victims and damage

The Russian Federation fired two rockets at the city. On the morning of July 31, the Russian army launched a missile attack on Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipro region. As of 12:30, four victims of the attack are known. Among the dead is a child. 43 people were injured.

This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“The enemy launched a missile attack on Kryvyi Rih. Currently, all necessary services are working on site,” the statement reads.

The Interior Ministry did not disclose the details of the attack. However, people are being asked to follow security measures and stay in their shelters until an air alert is declared. 

Details of the attack on Kryvyi Rih

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported that the occupiers attacked the city with two rockets during the raid. The rocket hit a four-story building of an educational institution. There may be people under the rubble.

The second rocket hit an apartment building. The section from the fourth to the ninth floor of a residential building was destroyed. There was a fire. At 10:15 it is known that one person has died. 10 residents sought medical help. However, there may be residents of the skyscraper under the rubble.

Serhiy Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk OVA, confirmed the "arrivals" to the city. According to him, a search and rescue operation is underway in the places of impact.

“The Russians fired rockets at an apartment building in Kryvyi Rih. And also in the buildings of one of the universities. Who did they want to demilitarize? There are victims. Parts of the skyscraper are simply not there! the institution is in ruins. There may be people under the rubble.

The first photos of the damage

Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets showed the consequences of a Russian missile hitting a nine-story building in Kryvyi Rih.

“The terrorist country kills and injures Ukrainians day and night with missile terror. It destroys homes and lives. The cynical killing of civilians is a crime for which Russia must be punished fairly," he stressed.

Zelensky's reaction

President Volodymyr Zelensky said that in the morning the regions of Ukraine came under fire from the aggressor country. In particular, the Russian Federation attacked Kryvyi Rih and Kherson in the morning. The head of state announced that he was in talks with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service of Ukraine and the heads of the OVA

“Hits against residential buildings, university teaching building, intersections. Unfortunately, there are deaths and injuries. There may be people under the rubble. My condolences to all those who have lost loved ones and loved ones as a result of the Russian terror. In recent days, "The enemy is persistently hitting cities, city centers. He is shelling civilian objects and houses. But this terror will not scare us or break us. We are working and saving our people", Zelensky stressed.

During an air alert on July 31, the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned that there was a threat of using ballistic weapons in the region. There were explosions during the alarm in Kryvyi Rih. They have been confirmed by the local authorities.
