Over the past ten years, 24 cases of malaria have been recorded in the Dnipro region

Almost every year, doctors of Dnipropetrovsk region register cases of malaria. Over the past 10 years, 24 people have been diagnosed with the disease. A new case was recorded this year as well. This was announced during a briefing in the regional military administration. This was reported by the press service of the Dnipro Regional State Administration.

Malaria is a dangerous infectious disease. It is transmitted through the bite of malaria mosquitoes. New cases are registered in Dnipropetrovsk region almost every year.

Such a case happened this year as well. The man was treated in an infectious disease hospital. He has already been discharged, - said Larisa Shtepa, a parasitologist at the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Center for the Control and Prevention of Infectious Diseases.

Larisa Shtepa added: if the disease is not detected and treated in time, it can lead to death. Symptoms appear 1-6 weeks after infection. Among them are periodic fever, increased sweating, chills, headache, weakness, muscle pain. Over time, the patient's liver and spleen enlarge, and anemia develops.

The disease is found mainly in people who have been in the countries of Africa, Asia and South America. In general, you can get malaria in 87 countries of the world.
