At least one person was killed in an overnight drone attack on Kyiv

Russia carried out a wave of air strikes on Kyiv last night. It was the largest drone attack on the city since the start of the war. “Today, the enemy decided to 'congratulate' the inhabitants on the occasion of Kyiv Day with the help of drones” said the mayor of the city, Vitaly Klitschko. One person was killed and at least one injured in the attack. 

It was the largest drone attack on Kyiv since the beginning of the war, the Ukrainian Air Force Telegram said.

“During the night, Russia attacked Ukraine and its capital with Iranian Shahed-136 and Shahed-131 attack drones from the north - Bryansk region, and south – Krasnodar region. In total, a record number of 54 kamikaze drones were launched”

“The enemy launched an attack on military facilities and critical infrastructure in the central regions of the country, in particular in the Kyiv region. Here, in the area of ​​responsibility of the Aviation Center Command, most of the drones were destroyed!” — added.

It was reported that 52 drones were destroyed as a result of combat operations.

One person was reported dead and at least one injured. Klitschko assessed that it was the biggest attack on Kyiv since the beginning of the war.

Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv military administration, said the raid was carried out in several waves, with air alerts lasting more than five hours. The attacks took place on the last Sunday of May, when Kyiv Day is celebrated. It is established to commemorate the founding of the city 1541 years ago.
