From July 1, Belarusian and Russian trucks will not be able to enter Poland

“From June 1, 2023, from 0:00 am until further notice, border traffic for goods at border crossings with the Republic of Belarus for trucks, tractor tractors, trailers, including semi-trailers, and vehicle combinations registered in the territory of the Republic of Belarus or the Russian Federation is suspended” – it was written in the regulation, which was published on Monday in the Journal of Laws. The Regulation enters into force on the day following the date of its announcement.

Sanctions on Belarus. Poland imposed restrictions on 365 people

Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Interior and Administration, Mariusz Kamiński, announced sanctions against Belarus. The restrictions covered 365 people, including 159 parliamentarians, 76 judges, 32 representatives of the local administration, 28 officers and employees of law enforcement agencies and seven prosecutors. The sanctions list also includes 20 entities and 16 entrepreneurs associated mainly with Russian capital, as well as e.g. representatives of the Belarusian regime media involved in propaganda activities. “These people promoted the Belarusian regime, and were also involved in legitimizing and supporting the repressive policy of the authorities in Minsk. They are also responsible for the politically motivated sentence against Andrzej Poczobut, issued on false charges,” emphasizes the Ministry of Interior and Administration.

Belarus. Andrzej Poczobut sentenced

The sanctions and the suspension of freight traffic on the border with Belarus are a response to the decision of the Supreme Court of the Belarusian regime, which on Friday rejected the appeal of Andrzej Poczobut, a Polish minority activist. The Pole is serving an eight-year sentence. Human rights defenders, the Polish authorities and the international community considered the ruling of the regime court to be politically motivated. Poczobut was detained in March 2021. The regime of Alexander Lukashenko accused the Pole of calling for actions harmful to Belarus and calling for national, religious and social hatred. After almost two years behind bars, on February 8, a court in Grodno sentenced him to eight years in prison. Journalist Andrzej Pisalnik, an activist of the Union of Poles in Belarus, which is not recognized by the regime, stated that the sentence for Poczobut was the revenge of the Lukashenko authorities on the Polish minority, which did not succumb to indoctrination.
