Nikopol police officers evacuated an elderly couple from under fire

There are not enough volunteers to evacuate people with disabilities from Nikopol, which is under fire every night from the Russians. On August 11, the enemy shelled the city of Nikopol from the Zaporizhzhia region several times from "Hradiv". One of the largest sleeping areas of Nikopol has undergone large-scale destruction. People died and were injured. Almost 40 apartment buildings, three schools, a children's art center, shops, and cars were damaged.

During the shelling, the Nikopol police received a call from residents of one of the damaged buildings. It turned out that the apartment on the fourth floor is inhabited by a couple of pensioners who have poor mobility and need help.

Roman Yarovy, deputy head of the police department for preventive activities of the Nikopol RUP, decided to evacuate people immediately. Together with Vitaly Haydamashchuk, the deputy of the prevention department, they made homemade stretchers from blankets and carried the sick woman from the fourth floor, helped the man down. Then they were taken by car to a safe area outside the city to their relatives.

Police officers of the Nikopol district police department, together with rescuers, are the first to go to the places of shelling to record the damage and rescue the townspeople who were trapped under the rubble. First aid is given to the wounded, and those whose houses are damaged are evacuated to safe places.

It also became known about 25 damaged buildings - shelling of Nikopol on August 13. But many domestic cats and dogs survived in "dead" Marupol, Ukrainians are trying to rescue them by their own efforts and take them to free territories.
