In a significant development, the defense ministers of Sweden and Denmark have signed a joint declaration expressing their intent to provide Ukraine with additional CV90 infantry fighting vehicles.
CV90 - infantry fighting vehicle
The defense ministers of Sweden and Denmark signed a joint declaration of their will to transfer further CV90 infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine. So far, Ukraine has received at least 50 such vehicles.
This declaration assumes the purchase of new Stridsfordon 90/CV90 infantry fighting vehicles for Ukraine, which may mean a significant extension of the delivery of much-needed vehicles to Ukrainians, compared to the option of, for example, transferring vehicles from the reserve and ordering new ones in their place. Copenhagen will provide approximately USD 263 million for this purpose, and Stockholm will support the purchase under the agreement concluded between the Defense Materials Agency (FMV) and Ukraine in July this year.
This will make the purchase procedure easier and may reduce the price to some extent compared to the case when the vehicles were purchased under a new contract. According to various calculations, the amount invested will allow Ukraine to obtain approximately 25 CV90s, an unspecified variant.
This is an important step towards supporting Ukraine's defense forces together with Denmark. We will use the industrial potential to ensure the supply of newly produced CV 90 to Ukraine. The CV90 has been and continues to be a significant addition to Ukraine's defense system since Sweden donated 50 vehicles earlier this year.

CV90 is a family of tracked vehicles developed by Hagglunds (now BAE Systems Hagglunds) at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s for the needs of the Swedish Armed Forces. Many variants of the CV90 were created, the most common of which is the infantry fighting vehicle. The vehicle can be equipped with various weapon systems, from universal or large-caliber machine guns, through 30, 35 or 40 mm automatic cannons, to a 105 mm rifled cannon or a 120 mm smoothbore cannon.
The drive unit of all versions is a Scania diesel engine with power ranging from 550 to 1,000 HP. Depending on the version, it allows you to reach a maximum speed of up to 70 km/h.
