The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valeriy Zaluzhny, inherited a million-dollar inheritance. The money was written to him by an American with Ukrainian roots, Hryhorij Stepaniec.

Zaluzhny: I devoted my whole life to the Armed Forces

However, the general did not keep the inheritance for himself. He transferred the money to the Ukrainian army, which was confirmed by the press service of the army. The bank document for the transfer to the army is dated January 5.

State collection for the army and reconstruction of the country
The payment is of particular importance in the face of the Russian invasion.

Ukraine's state-owned platform United24, which raises funds for the country's military needs, post-war reconstruction and humanitarian needs, said it had raised more than $274 million.

— I have devoted my entire life to the Armed Forces. And I had no doubts about what to do with the inheritance. The last will of Mr. Hryhorij was, of course, to support the Ukrainian army in my person – said Zaluzny.
