The supports on the Crimean Bridge are cracking

Photos have surfaced showing cracks in the supports of the Kerch bridge, Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, announced on social media. Last year, the bridge was damaged by a major explosion. It was closed at least twice in May.

On Wednesday, Gerashchenko posted photos online showing serious cracks in the bridge's supports. Although the damage looks serious, there is no information that the crossing is closed.

In early May, the media reported that the Crimean Bridge was closed. The authorities decided on such a move after the morning's explosions and the threat that the explosions could intensify.

In turn, on May 24, the occupation authorities announced that the bridge was closed that day due to exercises taking place nearby. However, no details were disclosed. Earlier, the media wrote that smoke appeared in the vicinity of the crossing.

The “Ukrainian Pravda” portal reminds that, the construction of the crossing has been carried out since 2015 in violation of international law, because Ukraine has not issued such a permit. In May 2018, part of the bridge for vehicles was ceremonially opened in the occupied Crimea. The opening was presided over by Putin, who drove a truck across the bridge from Tamania to Kerch.

On the morning of October 8, an explosion and fire occurred on the bridge. According to the Russian services, the explosion was caused by the detonation of an explosive in a truck.
